Finally got out on a local lake to day about 4 pm. I had purchased some jigs from Skip prior to our trip to FL in Feb., but really didn't give them much of a chance. I've hardly ever fished jigs for crappie, preferring live minnows under floats. I didn't tear 'em up today, but I did learn something. I fished two rods all afternoon, exact same setup except one w/minnows and one with Skip's jigs. Kept them within 3 feet of each other. Caught six total, four of 'em on Skip's jigs. All were dinks except one that came off as I reached for it from the boat. It probably would have went 12". I'm a believer now. Going back tomorrow, taking the grandkids. Should be fun. Thanks for a great product Skip!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Skips Jigs Day 2 Went out again today, got on the water a bit earlier than yesterday. Didn't get to take the grandkids, so it was serious fishing with my wife. She fished minnows under bobber all day, I fished nothing but Skips Jigs under a smaller bobber than I used yesterday. We caught 17 crappie total. Mostly dinks, but a couple were worth keeping. Here's the kicker. Jeff (Skips Jigs) total 13 Jill (Live Minnows) total 4 She almost wasn't speaking to me by the time we called it a day. Says she's starting out with Skips Jigs next weekend. <G> Thanks again Skip!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Water Temps between 58 and 68 today, fished north of Hwy 36. Caught six and one small catfish. Five were dinks, the other one was probably 12", but it came loose just as I was reaching for it. Two caught on minnows under bobbers, 6ft of water fishing 2ft deep. Four caught on Skip's Thump It Custom Jigs (chartreuse) under bobbers, same as above. I've never fished jigs very much, and never had much faith in 'em, but today showed me the light. Headed back again tomorrow, taking the grandkids. Should be fun.
Warning: Skip's jigs git hung up ........ON CRAPPIE !! Went up to my place @ T-Bend last week and had a good visit with Skip, AKA crappie.com skiptomylou. He tied me up some jigs and boy did they produce. Pics are of a 1 hour evening trip, and about 3 hours the next morning before the wind got me. Total catch was around 30 crappie on this jig. Most fish were caught casting the 1/16th oz pictured, and at Skips suggestion, I caught fish trolling also, something I've only tried a handful of times over the years. Thanks again Skip, and I reckon I'll be payin you a visit next month for an order of some 1/32 oz in probably the same colors you tied the others.
I can also attest to these jig's ability to hang those crappie. I had skip tie me some a few months back, and they work really well. I'm still using the one's he tied me back in January.
Today On Ray Roberts TX. Cliff Good trip today on Lake Ray Roberts, I took out a friend on a evening trip we fished for about 4 1/2 hours and ended up with 32 keepers. It was funny 25 of the keepers came out of a honey hole 4' deep in a 3' area of roots. purple/white tube jigs and the #16 jig of skips from ThumpIt Jigs were the hot baits today.
The water made it up to 53 degrees today. I noticed that the wind was out of the northeast today, and most of my fish were caught on the south bank. Makes sense I guess, since the warm surface water was being pushed up on the south bank. Caught most of my fish off cypress knees next to a tree. Caught them on ol' skip's thump it jigs. black head, chartreuse hair. skiptomylu has some good jigs.
I received my jigs today and I am very pleased..The workmanship is superb and the color combos are just what I was looking for...I will have to say they are the highest quality jigs that I have ever purchased....I would not like this posted as I have bought jigs from others on the board and would not want to hurt anyone's feelings.. Again I would like to say thanks & I will be ordering more soon...
Hey Skip I posted you a note a few days ago on crappie.com I finally used he jigs i got from you. My partner and I caught 70 keepers with them. He caught 40 yesterday, on the same jig. Things i like about the jig, Don't have to worry about pulling the skirt up, that ' crooked hook " comes out of the fish easily, but sticks the fish well, and seems to also get off of our matts easily when hung up.Jig does not seem to wear out, like a tube. I am sure we will be getting some more of these from you.

A couple impressions - 1. These jigs hold a glow charge longer than any I have ever used. I had both jigs on a couple poles and quit using one for about 45 minutes. The jig on the unused jig stayed glowing for over an hour. 2. I have never been a big fan of marabou. I prefer hair jigs. The marabou bunches up when its wet and really doesn't do much to attract the fish when its in the water. I'm going to hit some crappie holes and try em again tonight. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------- Yeah you guys are right. I just wasn't ever giving the marabou enough time to get soaked properly. It does undulate beautifully in the water and I know I've seen it do that before, but I just always saw it clumping like that right away and took em off. I'll give em more of a chance now. So a couple nights ago I went to a very crappie spot and put on Skips glow jig - the one with the stiffer short feathers and just smacked em. Caught about 70 crappies, a couple rock bass, some white perch, a few regular perch, bluegills, sunnies, and a couple little walleyes. I wanted to switch over to the marabou to see if they would hit the same on that, but I was pullin them in so fast I didn't want to stop to change lures. Then a guy stopped by who wanted to talk for a while and it got dark and they turned off and I switched to the marabou, but didn't get too many more because they just weren't hitting then. Then yesterday I stopped by a little lake called Bear lake in PA and caught 6 bass and about that many bluegills on the marabou until I wrapped the line around a branch under water and broke it off - AAHH. I almost went in after it. 3 things about skips glowing jigs. First, they WORK!! in daylight and after dark. They are extremely well made, and they are super durable. I've been working that feathered jig over. I've caught well over 100 fish on it and some with some serious teeth and it look almost new except where I smacked a little of the glow coating off the head from bumping rocks and bridges. Thirdly, like I said before I've never seen a glow charge last as long on a glowing jigs. Kudos to Skip - those are excellent jigs and I want some more especially since I lost the marabou.
Skip I bought some of your jigs a few months back and I must say, they are by far the best perch jigs I have ever used. I have caught absolutely every bit of 300 fish on one jig alone. That’ s not to mention all the other fish I’ve caught off the other jigs I got from you. My fishing partners are all embarrassed after fishing with me because I catch so many more than them using your jigs. I have loaned out a few after they beg me for them. Thanks so much for making perch fishing with jigs so easy. I wouldn’t use a minnow if they were giving them away now that I have your jigs. If you ever think about expanding your business and need someone to distribute your jigs, give me a call. They are so good they sell themselves. I’m over in Mississippi and I know I could sell more than you could make. Hope your son is doing well. Thank him again for his service to our great nation. Thanks again Customer forever Trey
Skip, Just wanted to say thank you for the fast service. I got the jigs in the mail today and they look great, exactly what I wanted and I am amazed by the 2 you did special in there. Very nice looking. I will be using them Sunday so will give a report on the board. Should be a good weekend with bigger fish moving in. We planned on fishing tomorrow but Dad has to work so Sunday it is. I will hand a few cards out to the guys I know on the pier including the 2 guids and will put some in the marina. Thanks, Mike
Schooling Just wanted to tell you that with the help of your jigs yesterday, I schooled a couple of guys on the art of boating slabs. The yellow/yell/blk/yellow and the fl.red/orange/orange were responsible for 27 slabs ranging from 1.5 lbs and 2lbs, not counting the others under that size. You should be getting an order from lunker, I finally gave him one of each after he and his partner watched me and my partner pulling in doubles for about 2 hours yesterday. Its a good day when you can cull 1 1/4 lb fish. I have caught roughly 150-250 fish in the last 2 days on the same jigs. Thanks, Steve
Skip, I got the jigs in the mail Friday, and I must say that they are the best looking jig I have seen so far. I think you are under charging the jig ...Excellent quality, good looks, fantastic price . I'm definitely going to order more Anh
Skip, All I can say is wow! Got the jigs this afternoon, now I have the pleasant problem of deciding which one(s) to fish with initially. Some of my clients are going to take your "name in vain" because I am shutting down the 'brain factory' in a couple of hours and heading out to fish :-) The green and blue charge rapidly, glow brightly, and seem to hold a charge for at least an hour or two at night. Putting them next to a lantern at night is sufficient to charge them again quickly. I am very happy with all the jigs and definitely a big fan of the Glow Jigs for both day and night use. Regards, Walter
